Formaldehyde testing, quantitative air sampling.

Formaldehyde testing uses active air sampling to quantify formaldehyde concentration in indoor air. Common in new construction, post-renovation, and homes with engineered wood products or specific cabinetry.

What is formaldehyde testing?

Formaldehyde testing is the quantitative measurement of airborne formaldehyde in a building, collected on a thermal-desorption tube during a short active air sample and analyzed at an accredited laboratory. Results are reported in ng/L and parts per billion, and compared against published guideline values from organizations including WHO, NIOSH and LEED. The laboratory states its method is correlated with or compliant with CARB § 93120, ASTM D-5582 and E-1333, and DIN EN-717. It targets the off-gassing common in new construction, engineered-wood furniture, cabinetry, adhesives, and flooring underlayments, and emission rises with temperature and humidity, two conditions Florida supplies for most of the year. The test earns its place in new construction, after a significant remodel, or when someone reports irritation of the eyes, nose, and airway that mold sampling alone does not explain. PureSpec reports the environmental measurement, the method, and the sampling duration. What a given concentration means for a person is a question for a clinician. The report documents the method, the sampling duration, and the concentration at each point.
